Scammed by Telegram VIP signals? Backtest the channel before you pay.
You paid for the VIP group. The screenshots looked perfect. Your account didn't. Screenshots show the best day; a backtest shows every signal the channel ever posted, replayed on real prices.
84% winners. Still 500 pips down.
A real Telegram gold channel, backtested over 30 days of its own messages. It won 16 of its 19 closed trades. The wins averaged about 37 pips. The three losses averaged about 362 โ and wiped them all out.
Channel anonymized as "Channel A". 0.10 lots, 2 pip spread, first TP only, pending orders when the entry was more than 10 pips away. Past results do not guarantee future results.
Five numbers the screenshots never show
Net result
Pips and money after every signal, not after the ones they chose to post about.
Profit factor
Gross profit divided by gross loss. Below 1.0 the channel loses money, whatever its win rate.
Maximum drawdown
The deepest fall from a peak. It tells you whether you could have survived the bad month.
Average win vs average loss
Many small wins and a few huge losses is the most common pattern behind "90% accuracy".
Results by week
Compare each week with the summary the channel posted. If they don't match, you know.
Edited signals
Messages changed after they were posted are marked, so a "corrected" entry can't hide a loss.

Checking a signal channel
How do I know if a Telegram signal channel is a scam?
Look at every signal it posted, not at its screenshots. A backtest replays the channel's whole message history on real prices and shows net result, win rate, profit factor, drawdown and the trades the screenshots leave out.
Is a high win rate enough?
No. A channel can win 84% of its trades and still lose money if the few losses are much bigger than the wins. Look at net result, profit factor and maximum drawdown together.
What data does the backtest use?
The channel's own Telegram message history and real one-minute candles of your broker, exported automatically by the EA. When a candle touches both stop and target, the loss counts.
Can I use my own lot, spread and rules?
Yes. You choose the days back, lot, spread, maximum TPs and pending order rules, or load the settings of your EA with one click.
Do I need to subscribe to the channel?
You need to be able to read it with your Telegram account, the same as for copying it.
Don't get burned again
The backtester is built into the Telegram to MT5 / MT4 Multi-Channel Copier. Test the channel first โ and copy it only if it deserves it.
